What you need

  • 1 pack GRIG Crunchy Crickets 13 g — Chilli & Lime wakes people up
  • 1 pack GRIG Dried Mealworms 13 g — Salt is the easiest entry point
  • 1 pack GRIG Dried Locusts 6 g — the boss level, keep it for the finale
  • 1 pack GRIG Space Edition — the one people photograph before they taste it
  • Tomato salsa and a garlic or yoghurt dip
  • Roasted nuts, olives, lime wedges, fresh herbs to fill the gaps

How to build it

  1. Take a big wooden board or tray. Dark looks best — the crunch stands out.
  2. Pour each GRIG product into its own small bowl. Keep the locusts in the middle. They are the main event.
  3. Start the running order with the mealworms: mild, salty and familiar. Everyone begins there.
  4. Fill gaps with nuts, olives and lime wedges so the board looks generous.
  5. Put the empty packs next to the board. People will want to read them. Let them.

How it plays out

Guests start on the mealworms. Someone gets brave with a cricket. Then the table waits for the first person to take a locust — and that is your moment. Phones come out, someone films it, and suddenly the board is empty.

Tip: announce nothing. Just put the board down and walk away. The board does the talking.
